Present Continuous and Its Uses
The present continuous tense is formed using subject + am/are/is + verb-ing.
Definition: The present continuous is used for actions happening at the moment of speaking, temporary actions, and future planned actions.
Come si forma il present continuous:
- Positive: Subject + am/are/is + verb-ing
- Negative: Subject + am not/aren't/isn't + verb-ing
- Question: Am/Are/Is + subject + verb-ing?
Example: "At the moment I'm reading" (action happening now)
Quando si usa il present continuous:
- For actions occurring while speaking
- For future planned actions (e.g., "Tomorrow I'm meeting my friend")
- To express irritation with "always" and "never"
Highlight: State verbs (like have, think, love) are not typically used in continuous tenses.
